Making an Appointment
You can make an appointment either by calling into our premises in Star Yard, Barnard Castle, by telephoning us on (01833) 695555, or by e-mailing us at info@ascentphysio.co.uk.
Your first appointment will take up to 45 minutes. We will ask you a lot of questions about how the problem started, where you feel your symptoms and what makes them better or worse.
We will then examine you and look at the problem area, while maintaining your modesty at all times. Following a detailed assessment we will give you an initial diagnosis of the problem, and hopefully be able to explain why it occurred in the first place. We may use models or pictures of the joints and soft tissues involved. This is so you have a clear understanding of what is going on in your body.
Understanding your pain often helps you to accept the situation more easily. It is important for you to ask us as many questions as you like and our aim is for you to feel completely at ease with this process.
We will then discuss the best way for us to treat the problem. It is difficult to give a time limit on treatment as this can be influenced by many things, such as occupation, hobbies, etc., but we can always try. Sometimes people are in the situation where they are still doing what may have caused the problem in the first place, and we will also advise you what to do and not to do at home to help yourself get better.
The first session normally includes treatment of the problem as well as the examination and diagnosis. Follow-up appointments are half an hour and more time is available if the problem is more complex or there is more than one problem.
If you need more than one session we will book these with you as required. Our most important aim is to get you better as quickly as possible and to show you the difference physiotherapy can make for a speedy return to your normal activities.
What it Will Cost
An initial consultation of 45 minutes is between £45 and £50 at present. A follow-up appointment of approximately 30 minutes is between £32 to £40. However, we may find that you need longer than 30 minutes, and we will discuss this with you if this is the case. If you are a member of a private health scheme such as BUPA or PPP, you will find that we are registered consultants with all major schemes. We bill the individual company directly so you don't have to worry about reclaiming money yourself.
If you are not privately insured we do ask you to pay each visit and we accept both cash, cheques and debit/credit cards.
If you have an on-going claim because of a car accident or work accident, we usually invoice your solicitors who will ask the other party to pay the cost of your treatment. If this is your situation, the sooner you get treatment after the event the quicker you will get better. We will be happy to help by liaising with your legal team if necessary.
Our first appointment is 8.30am for the early bird! We have at least two late evenings until 7.30pm for people who would prefer to come after work.
If you have a problem with getting to us at any of the above times, we will do our best to see you at the most convenient time for you.
