The Elbow

Elbow pain or discomfort can occur as a result of sporting injury or over-use in your job or hobby.

Bones and ligaments of the elbow.

'Tennis elbow' manifests itself as pain over the outside of the elbow. This is where the muscles which we use when we grip with our hand attach onto the bone. Think of a backhand stroke in tennis and that's how it gets its name.

'Golfers' elbow' is pain over the inside of the elbow, where the muscles that bend your wrist forwards are attached. They can be strained with this type of movement such as the golfer's swing, in throwing in sport or using DIY tools at home.

We treat both these conditions using specific hands-on techniques, and always check the neck region for problems at the same time. Other forms of treatment, such as acupuncture and ultrasound, may also be helpful. We can instruct you on precise stretching and exercises to help this condition get better more rapidly and give advice to prevent recurrence.
